JAPANESE DRUM GROUP STAGES MINI-CONCERT

In addition to the two public performances held on 06 and 07 September, 2013, the Japanese Music Project 2013 staged a mini drum concert for primary and junior high school students of the Italian State School in Addis Ababa at the Italian Cultural Institute, on the morning of 07 September, 2013.

The Italian State School students were overwhelmed by the mesmerizing power of the Japanese drums. Their spontaneous clapping along with the drumming created a unique rhythm and an enjoyable interactive performance. Some 30 students experienced the power of Japanese taiko (drums) for the first time when they were invited to the stage to try their hand at drumming.

In his letter of appreciation, Mr.  Daniele Castellani, Principal of the school wrote to the Embassy: “it was a truly delightful event and our students were very excited”.

About 350 students attended the mini concert, and some of them returned then with their parents to enjoy the afternoon performance.
