JAPANESE WADAIKO (DRUMS), FLUTE PERFORMANCES | ||||||
On 06 and 07, September, 2013, the Embassy of Japan, together with Office K2, organized a special Japanese Drums and Flute performance at the Italian Cultural Institute. This performance was unique blend of Japanese drums and flutes with an African touch that created a good opportunity for musicians, composers and fans of Japanese instrumental music. The Japanese Music Project is a dynamic drum and flute group, composed of 10 renowned performers; YAS-KAZ, a Japanese percussionist, Latyr Sy, a Japan-based Senegalese percussionist, KOTO, a Japanese bamboo flute player, OHNO Makoto, a Noh flute player and “Taiko Company Himiko”, an all female drum group that is known for creating an exceptional atmosphere by adding feminine grace and glamour to the powerful and dynamic sound of Wadaiko (Japanese drums). This performance is the third event of the Japanese cultural series in the Japanese fiscal year 2013. In recent years, the Embassy of Japan organized a series of cultural events such as the Kendo and Karate Demonstrations, the Ikebana Workshop and Demonstration, the Japanese Film Festival, the Annual Japan Festival, Renewal ceremony of the Japanese Garden and the Design Exhibition. 10 September
