at the Reception on the Occasion of the Visit to Addis Ababa
by the JICA Business Delegation from Japan
at the Japanese Ambassador’s Residence on 09 November, 2012

  Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good evening and welcome to my residence.  Thank you very much for joining us for this reception this evening on the occasion of the visit to Addis Ababa by the JICA Business Delegation from Japan.

This is a rare but important occasion for me to receive a group of Japanese business representatives from Japan.  The group is headed by Mr. Hoshino of the JICA Hokuriku Branch and composed of eleven members who represent ten Japanese companies operating in various parts of Japan and one regional business association.  I would like to express my sincere welcome to each of you.

The delegation has already had useful exchanges of views with the Ethiopian Investment Agency and visited Mojo Dry Port, flower farms, a leather factory and so on.  The participating companies cover broad business areas such as agricultural machinery, industrial machinery, recycling industrial waste including metal and plastic, environmental goods, anti-mosquito chemicals, interior products, leather products, logistics and flower sales.  All of them are interested in business opportunities in Africa, including Ethiopia.  I hope that this reception will provide a good opportunity for them to meet with the Ethiopian business community and to deepen their understanding about Ethiopian business environment and business opportunities here.  Therefore, I would like to express my appreciation to Ato Ayalew Zegeye and his colleagues in the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce, and also to Ato Mohammed Seid and his colleagues in the Ethiopian Investment Agency for joining us in this gathering.

Without further ado, may I now ask the delegation representative to say a few words?  And then, afterwards, Ato Ayalew.
