Several Japanese Embassies in Africa have reported that there has been information on circulation of suspicious emails and notificiations via internet by unknown organizations regarding Japanese scholarship application. Furthermore, there has been reports that after contacting these organizations, they have requested payment for deposit purposes etc.

複数の在アフリカ日本国大使館からの報告によれば、日本留学の為の日本政府奨学金への応募を呼びかけるメール、或いはインターネット上での案内が正体不明の団体から行われています。また、同団体に連絡した際、登録申請のため保証金等の名目で同団体への送金を要求されたとの報告もあります。

The application procedure of the MEXT scholarship is done by the Japanese Government through Embassies, Consulate Generals and Japanese Universities. The Embassies will never take deposit fees for the application procedure.　

日本の国費留学生の募集・選考は、日本政府が在外の日本国大使館（一部の日本国総領事館）あるいは日本の大学を通じて行っています。また、在外公館等への申請に当たり、保証金を徴収するようなことは絶対にありません。
