The Embassy of Japan in Ethiopia is hiring an experienced Butler who is capable of providing high-quality services at Japanese Ambassador’s Official Residence.

Duty Station and Location
Official Residence of Japanese Ambassador to Ethiopia (Located in Bole area, Addis Ababa)
Working Hours, Holidays, Leaves, and Benefits
- Two shifts are applied interchangeably on weekdays depending on schedule of events held at the Official Residence as well as other duties as planned by the Embassy.
<normal shifts>
(1)Working hours: from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Lunch break: from 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM
(2)Working hours: from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Lunch break: from 1:00 PM to 2:15 PM
*overtime allowance is paid based on Embassy’s regulations
-Holidays: Observance of selected Ethiopian and Japanese holidays.
- Paid Leaves: 20 days of paid annual leave per year.
- Health Insurance: Covered by the Embassy
General Description
The Butler is expected to provide high standard services for visitors to the official residence, to ensure the success of all diplomatic functions in the residence, including lunch, dinner, receptions and other events, as well as to maintain the conditions of the facility and garden area, and manage the residence staff so as to provide high level service to visitors.
Main Task
The Butler will be responsible for the following tasks:

In addition to necessary skills, experience and knowledge, candidate for the position should have;

- Providing services on the occasion of receptions and other events in the residence.
- Maintaining the condition of facility and garden area in the residence.
- Managing and Supervising the residence staff.
Qualifications and Experience
In addition to necessary skills, experience and knowledge, candidate for the position should have;
- at least a High School diploma.
- at least five years of relevant experience as a butler in international hotels or other diplomatic facilities.
- demonstratable initiative, be cautious, honest and have good character.
- excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- held management positions within an organization and earned team-building skills.
- documentation verifying their educational background and work history.
